Brian is at his best when helping businesses leverage technology to create exceptional experiences for their customers. He is an IT generalist, knowledgeable in software and database design, system and network administration, and project management. He specializes in Ruby on Rails software development, working with the platform since 2006.

Rapid project inheritance
Key developer was leaving project and client needed to quickly transfer knowledge. Rebuilt the test suite as the means to document the workings of a complex domain model. Started with 300+ failing unit tests out of the 500+ written. Within 30 days had 500+ passing unit tests which properly exercised the database constraints in place. Additionally added 100+ passing integration tests to test critical work flows.

Real estate brokerage intranet
Built a large Rails application to support sales leads management, customer records management, and brokerage records. Configured database and file system replication to third party servers and software which processes data for display on public website. Designed and configured internal, VMware vSphere environment. Developed and implemented custom backup and disaster recovery solution.

Banquet event ordering app
Built a Rails web app which supports key business processes including event scheduling with integration to Google Calendar, document generation, customer records management, and sales leads management.

Self-employed consultant. Responsible for sales, design, development, and delivery of custom information systems for businesses using Ruby on Rails. Responsible for managing Linux and Windows servers, physical and virtual, hosted internally and by third parties.

Consultant with IBM’s Public Sector Financial Operations Improvement Unit. Assisted in generation and verification of quarterly delivery of financial reporting requirements for U.S. Department of Agriculture using custom software we developed.

Brian is very happily married with two kids. He currently lives in the U.S. Virgin Islands where he regularly hikes, snorkels, and swims. Previously he lived in Vail, Colorado enjoying skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. He enjoys playing guitar and djembe.
