A passionate technologist, Jeff has enjoyed working with electronics and computers as both a hobby and profession for over thirty years. Jeff is “full-stack from the silicon to the screen”. An open source zealot, Jeff has used and contributed to many free software projects.
Jeff’s main languages are Python, JavaScript, and C, with additional dabbling in C++, Java, Ruby, Perl, and many others. Jeff particularly enjoys data analysis and visualisation, as well as web and embedded development. For front-end work he particularly enjoys using Web Components.
Senior Platform Engineer, Faraday, 2019–2020. Supported Faraday’s AI driven marketing platform including data pipelines, database administration, visualization and analysis, petabyte scale reporting, web front- and back-ends, cloud operations, and performance monitoring and optimization.
Senior Web Developer, Reading Plus, 2017–2019. Front-end developer for reading instructional web app using Google Polymer web components. Worked with stakeholders to revise and finalize designs and ensure UI/UX best practices. Implemented and maintained designs as web components. Managed CI/CD build/​test/​deploy pipelines.
Principal Consultant, Jeff Laughlin Consulting, 2012–2020. Software architecture, design, development, QA, and legacy maintenance. Apps, libraries, drivers. Web, mobile, desktop, server, and embedded. Business, science, education, e-commerce. Data science, processing, analysis, visualization, analytics.
In addition to computing and electronics, Jeff enjoys spending time outdoors with his family hiking, fishing, swimming, camping, biking, skating, snowshoeing, skiing, waterskiing, and playing badminton. In the winter Jeff volunteers to coach kids’ ski racing at Cochran’s Ski Area. He also enjoys restoring his classic Boston Whaler Montauk.
